Claire Chase has been called “the North Star of her instrument’s ever-expanding universe,” with her groundbreaking Density 2036 regarded as “one of the great musical undertakings of our time, a singular project by a singular artist” (The New York Times). Since 2013, Density 2036 has expanded the boundaries of the flute repertory by annually commissioning new works by some of today’s most innovative composers.
Between May 18 and May 25, Chase performs all of the Density 2036 commissions up to the present—including the world premieres of new additions by Craig Taborn and Anna Thorvaldsdottir.
