the skint is taking the holiday week off, so here are your event listings through the 30th. we’ll be sending out our annual new year’s eve party roundup on wednesday the 26th, and we’ll be back to our regular publishing schedule on thursday, 1/3. scroll all the way down to the ‘all weekend’ section to find events that occur all weekend (some start friday), including holiday markets, movies, bogo ice cream, and more.

friday

fri various times: participate in one or several of 16 outdoor music-making celebrations across nyc at the annual make music winter. some highlights include a handbell march with free pizza, an appalachia-themed hootenanny, and a smartphone soundscape on the high line. free. >>

fri 7pm (monthly): the kweendom lgbtq comedy and storytelling show comes out again with performances by wanjiko eke, gabe gonzalez, gus constantellis, daniel lampert, and alexis powell. hosted by bobby hankinson. pete’s candy store (williamsburg), free (donations welcome and will benefit immigration equality). >>

On Friday, January 11 at 10:30pm, DJ Steve Reynolds (Party Like It’s 1999) will spin the hits and deep cuts from The Thin White Duke’s 50-year career. Music Video Time Machine will provide projections of Bowie’s best videos and movie appearances.
